Website

NZ Caches.tk is no more

|

After a number of years of service, nandor has decided to stop maintaining the NZ Caches website that was hosted on the GPS Society's website. A long time ago there was no easy way to map New Zealand geocaches, so nandor created NZ Caches. Over the years, better mapping functionality - particularly with Google Maps and Google Earth - has removed the need for him to continue to provide this free service with declining usage.

Forums down

Update: They should be back soon. They moved the site to a new server/IP address and didn't let me know. I've updated the DNS records and depending on your ISP you should soon be redirected to the forums. This may take up to 24 hours but for most should happen within a few hours from now (20070517 1110 NZST)

It would appear that the forum host has gone down. I've seen a couple of other sites hosted by RealWebHost also disappear off the radar - so I don't think it is something specific to our site, rather the server. Hopefully service will be restored soon.

DNS problems - forums unreachable

We were informed at short notice yesterday that the main website (this one) was being moved to a new server. I updated our DNS records to reflect the change and made a mistake in doing so that has made the forums temporarily disappear. These shall return again soon.

We will extend the time for Society elections to allow reasonable time for those that haven't yet voted to vote.

Sorry about this.

What RSS feeds are available?

| |

The website has a number of RSS feeds available.

The main website has two feeds that cover the new articles posted to the front page of the main website. These are accessible by the icons on the Terms and Feeds page. This also has links to other feeds available for the forums and wiki.

20061013: Corrected to reflect new website

www.gps.org.nz Update

|

Hi all, just an update on the new website. Nick and I got quite a bit done yesterday, but there is still a bit of work to go. We'll keep plugging away on it during the week.

1. www.gps.org.nz login
Just a brief note about logins. As per the previous website, the login of www.gps.org.nz is completely distinct from the forums at forums.gps.org.nz. Not the least reason for this is that they are on separate servers, one hosted in the US (forums) and one hosted in New Zealand (this one, www).

Website update

Don't panic. This website is currently being hacked by BigNick and rediguana. We are moving the Content Management System over to Drupal, and you will likely see quite a few strange behaviours over the period of this afternoon.

Cheers Gav

Forums Down

|

The forums appear to be down, it appears to be for maintenance and upgrading of the apache webserver. The .php downloads you are getting are likely because they haven't yet associated php back a recognised filetype after upgrading httpd.

Forums hacked again

|

The forums have been hacked again. I've currently locked them, and raised an incident with the phpBB security team to figure out what happened. We are running the latest version of the software. I wonder if it was a disgruntled spammer...

Forums have been moved

|

The forums have been moved to a new home - forums.gps.org.nz.

Make sure to check out this thread - it is important that you delete your old gps forum cookie or you may have difficulties logging into the forums at the new location.
