What do c, s and x stand for?
Submitted by rediguana on Sat, 2006-10-28 15:44. eTrex Legend Cx | eTrex Venture Cx | eTrex Vista Cx | FAQ | Garmin Hardware | GPS FaqMany Garmin GPS units have a combination of the letters C, S and X after them. These indicate the following capabilities.
- Colour - that the unit has a colour display
- Sensors - that the unit has sensors such as the bariometric altimeter and electronic compass
- eXtendable - that the unit supports additional memory cards to expand the capacity for maps and other data (note that this only applies to the newer GPSMAP models, and doesn't include some of the older models such as the 12XL)
However, Garmin does not have appear to have used these labels consistently. It is assumed that this is because of marketing and naming reasons.
Where do I get maps for my Japanese import car?
Submitted by rediguana on Sat, 2005-02-26 12:35. FAQ | GPS FaqSorry, there are currently no NZ maps for Japanese import GPS systems. Due to the fact that the New Zealand market is so small none of the makers (eg Sony, Panasonic etc) have produced NZ maps, the mapping format is also proprietary so no 3rd party maps have been produced.
There is talk of systems for NZ but this will require the replacement of the electronics in the boot (and potentially the replacement of the screens due to incompatible cables. For more information consult GeoSmart).
Best thing to look at if you are wanting auto-routi
