Hi all, just an update on the new website. Nick and I got quite a bit done yesterday, but there is still a bit of work to go. We'll keep plugging away on it during the week.

1. www.gps.org.nz login
Just a brief note about logins. As per the previous website, the login of www.gps.org.nz is completely distinct from the forums at forums.gps.org.nz. Not the least reason for this is that they are on separate servers, one hosted in the US (forums) and one hosted in New Zealand (this one, www).

Don't panic. This website is currently being hacked by BigNick and rediguana. We are moving the Content Management System over to Drupal, and you will likely see quite a few strange behaviours over the period of this afternoon.

The forums appear to be down, it appears to be for maintenance and upgrading of the apache webserver. The .php downloads you are getting are likely because they haven't yet associated php back a recognised filetype after upgrading httpd.

The forums have been hacked again. I've currently locked them, and raised an incident with the phpBB security team to figure out what happened. We are running the latest version of the software. I wonder if it was a disgruntled spammer...

The forums have been moved to a new home - forums.gps.org.nz.

Make sure to check out this thread - it is important that you delete your old gps forum cookie or you may have difficulties logging into the forums at the new location.

Sorry about todays outage - KiwiWebHost, our hosts, thought that we were running a vulnerable version of phpBB and disabled our account. In fact we are running the latest version of phpBB (2.0.13) but their reporting showed us running 2.0.6c. I only logged in to discover the error this afternoon and it took a little bit to resolve as they had disabled my shell access so I could not verify that we were in fact running the latest version and they had a server meltdown which meant that their support people were rather busy.

Sorry about the short notice, but I'm going to take the forums down for a while whilst I install a critical upgrade.

I may not be able to return it to the old state until Nick gets a chance to play - as he has a record of the customisations we made in January.

It should probably take 30 minutes at the outside - and should be back by 2100 NZDT.

Donations are being solicited by the Society towards purchasing one or more GPS units to be sent to Sri Lanka to help with the recovery effort following the Boxing Day earthquake and resulting tsunami.

We're nearly done upgrading the site folks. Most things should be working now, bar a couple of the forms which Nick is working on right now. (Update 3/1/04 Forms hopefully all done)
