GPSBabel, Google Earth, and GPX Sonar

I present to you here my alternative attempt at paperless geocaching as it is a combination I'm sure few use.

As a Mac user, I am somewhat limited by applications. At the same time, the PDA I use for geocaching is a Pocket PC. I've got a fairly good workflow up an running now that is fairly automated and works well. I utilise the following applications.

  • GPSBabel - commandline processing/GPS communication tool
  • GPSBabel+ - GUI interface to GPSBabel for interactive work
  • Google Earth - the only decent mapping programme for a Mac
  • GPX Sonar - about the only application that makes me want to use a Pocket PC ;)
