Presidents Report 2004

|

Welcome to the end of the first year of the NZ Recreational GPS USers Society - the society has grown from the humble beginnings of a few people siting in a living room in Christchurch talking about how good it would be to have a unified voice for GPS users in NZ to an online community of people covering not only NZ but also scattered throughout the world. The society started with a electronic forum where we could discuss the things that interest us but at long last, on 17th of April the website to accompany the forum went live, and since then has grown due to the contribution of articles from many people. In the process of getting the website up we changed web service providers and thanks to everything for bearing with us while the forums were down for a couple of day during the changeover.

In 2005 I hope that in conjunction with the management committee we will be able to get in contact with some of the resellers of GPS related products and get some discounts for society members which will hopefully encourage more members. We are also looking at obtaining Groundspeak Recognized Status for promoting local geocaching.

Thanks go out to the two vice presidents, the treasurer and the members of the management committee, you have been working behind the scenes on some of the mundane but important aspects of the society (moderating the forums, responding to society email, website testing etc)

As always this society is YOUR society. Please have your say - vote in the AGM, write an article, write a product review (I know there are lots of new 60C/60CS users out there). Be involved.
