GPS Maps for NZ MEGA 2012

New Zealand is blessed with some of the best free and open source Garmin GPS maps in the world! This is thanks to strong volunteer communities, and a Government that has come to appreciate the benefits of open access to Government geospatial information.

The New Zealand Open GPS Maps Project provides both auto-routing and topographical maps for New Zealand. Please note that these are for Garmin units only.

Recent versions of the Garmin City Navigator Maps include both Australia and New Zealand, so if you have the Australian maps, you should already have the New Zealand Garmin auto-routing maps. Garmin also produce TOPO Australia and New Zealand maps. So if you're coming from Australia, and you have recent Garmin maps, you should already have New Zealand maps as well.

There are also a number of commercial datasets available - mostly topographic maps (sorted alphabetically).
